The first thing I did was to go to a restaurant, a really nice restaurant. Spent time with a good friend. Had a beautiful and delicious meal. Learned a few things.
Like an occasional cocktail and glass of wine are fine.
Like sharing an appetizer is still a great idea. And sometimes an appetizer might be a good idea for the main meal.
Like the main is too much food, but sometimes it's so good you just keep eating because you know it will never heat up as well as it came out of the kitchen and you just want to keep experiencing how wonderful the art of a great chef is. Still, don't keep eating and finish it. This is one of those things you just can't win. Unless you adjust your expectations. It's okay to leave some food on your plate. And it's definitely okay to pick all the blue crab and bacon off the top of the risotto.
Like you're no longer interested in dessert, unless it's gelato or sorbet. And, dear girl, remember that if you order the gelato, even a half scoop, you will be congested before you pull out of the parking lot.
Like, how right you were about a cup of black tea after a rich meal. It's, really, all the dessert you need. Another one for the occasional list.
